What Is a Skin Care Professional?

A skin care professional, also known as an esthetician, is someone who helps maintain the skin. They do this through a variety of methods, including cleansing, exfoliating, waxing, lasering, and moisturizing. They may even apply makeup. The purpose of their work is generally to enhance the appearance of one檚 skin, but they can also perform treatments to help with skin conditions.

Tasks a skin care professional may undertake each day include:

  • Facials and masks
  • Facial massages
  • Applying makeup
  • Hair removal and waxing
  • Eyebrow lamination
  • Eyebrow and eyelash tinting
  • Eyelash lifts
  • Skin treatments
  • Working with Machines
  • Advanced Esthetic Techniques
  • Manicures and pedicures Provo Only
  • Chemical Exfoliation
  • Full-body treatments
  • Disinfecting equipment

Like others in the beauty industry, skin care professionals also must maintain effective communication with clients. They want to ensure clients receive the right treatments according to their needs and feel comfortable throughout the process.

Why Should You Become a Skin Care Professional?

There are many reasons esthiology careers have become more popular. Some of the advantages you can expect when entering this profession include:

Job Security

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the 聽is expected to grow 10% through 2033, which is much faster than the average of other occupations. The result is nearly 13,000 job openings per year, on average. This means youl likely have plenty of options, and it will be easier to hold onto your job.

Flexible Work Environments

Not everyone dreams of working in the same setting. Fortunately, for those considering a career as an esthetician, you don檛 just have to work in a salon or spa (although many find these roles rewarding). You can find work in hotels and resorts, on cruise ships, at beauty schools, and more. Those interested in medical esthetics can even take on work in healthcare facilities.

Versatility

Not all skin care professionals do the same work. Having your license opens many doors and allows you to work as a wax technician, a salon esthetician, a clinical esthetician, a laser technician, a makeup artist, a beauty blogger, and more. You can even aspire to run your own salon or become an instructor to help train others.

Satisfaction

Like many other careers in the beauty industry, working as a skin care specialist gives you a rewarding feeling. Youl know your treatments are helping enrich the lives of others. Whether you檙e just giving them a new glow or helping them manage a medical condition, the work will leave you feeling good.
